Colonic Irrigation

Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone have the treatment?

NO! Colonic Therapy is not recommended if you have cardiac disease, high blood pressure, anaemia, gastrointestinal perforation or haemorrhage, haemorrhoids, cirrhosis, carcinoma of the colon or rectum, pregnancy, abdominal hernia, recent colon rectal or abdominal surgery, renal insufficiency or prostate problems.

You must inform your therapist of any previous or current medical conditions to allow them to assess your case. If you have any concerns, please seek the approval of your GP before embarking on this treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

If you have minor complaints, then your condition may improve after 2-4 sessions. If you condition is more serious, then more sessions will be needed. It is often not possible to completely clear the bowel after one treatment, and several treatments are always recommended.

Is the treatment safe?

Due to the very low pressure of the water there is no risk of perforating the bowel during the treatment. The treatment is painless, but you may experience a strange sensation similar to that of diarrhoea.

The massaging effect of the water and variations in temperature can often strengthen and tone the muscles of the bowel. All our equipment is disposable or sterilised using medical disinfectant to hospital standard for internal devices.
